Curriculum Implementation
In April 2022, Minister LaGrange announced that curriculum implementation of three subjects would proceed in September of 2022. Christ the Redeemer (CTR) Catholic Schools will implement the following subjects starting in August 2022:
- English Language Arts and Literature (ELAL) – Kindergarten to Grade 3
- Mathematics – Kindergarten to Grade 6
- Physical Education and Wellness (PEW) – Kindergarten to Grade 6
Provincial curriculum can be accessed through New LearnAlberta in digital and/or print format. To access the available resources to support curriculum, teachers are encouraged to sign up for an account. Details for signing up can be found in the New Learn Alberta User Guide.
CTR teachers were involved in creating Curriculum Support Documents (CSD) in ELAL, Mathematics and PEW. The CSDs are meant to support teacher understanding of the changes to learning outcomes by unpacking curriculum, creating common understanding through defined concepts, connecting resources to outcomes and providing examples of planning (lessons, long range). It is the responsibility of each teacher to read and become familiar with the architecture and content of the curriculum. CTR teachers can access the CSDs through the Curriculum Implementation Google Site. CTR teachers can download the documents and personalize once downloaded and saved to your Google drive.
Teachers are invited to share feedback throughout the implementation process. If you have questions, comments to share, suggestions for resources or professional development, please share your thoughts. An Implementation Support Feedback form is available for you through the link on this page or through the google site. This feedback will help to inform Divisional CLCs and Divisional PD.
